Nabisunsa Girls School
Hosted a cafe on:-
Cloning
Speaker: Charles Tumwesigye, Head of Biological Sciences Kyambogo University
This was the first café in the school. Dr Twesigye began by sharing his experience from another café at City High School.
Cloning is a biological technique used to produce copies of organisms. Its history dates back to the 1970s and 1990s, in agriculture. Cloning can be natural – identical twins are clones; science follows nature!
The students asked:
- How is cloning used in fighting against disease?
- If cloning has a failure rate of 97%, why do scientists persist in doing it?
- Can cloning be used to cure HIV/AIDS?
