Manafwa high school - HIV/AIDS

Manafwa high school

Hosted a cafe on:-

HIV/AIDS

Speaker: Wambwa Tom Namonyo, clinical officer
Date:  23rd July 2009

Highlights

Wambwa discussed what HIV means, the difference between HIV and AIDS and the different types of HIV.

He also discusses how HIV is transmitted – through unscreened blood, through unprotected sexual intercourse and from mother to child, at birth.

Students had many questions: how do ARVs help someone with AIDS, can the virus be transmitted by bites, why do some people get Septrin rather than ARVs and so on.
