Café Sci Project Champion

Hannah Littlewood, science teacher from Harrogate High School, is the first ever Café Sci Project Champion.

HannahWelcome to the Café Sci team, Hannah!

The Project Champion will be an intermediary between local schools and the Café Sci team. They will take on some of the Project Organisers’ networking and support activities, helping build and support the café community in each region. We want to strengthen links between local school cafés and increase the amount of grassroots input to the project, as well as reduce the Organisers’ workload. The Project Champion will:

  • Help local schools set up cafés, including running some taster sessions.
  • Help schools find good speakers.
  • Give advice and support on running a successful café.
  • Act as local advocate for Café Sci with teacher networks, Science Learning Centre etc.
  • Lead the regional network of cafés, supported by the Regional Project Organiser.

Hannah is trialling the role in Harrogate, Knaresborough and York. You can contact her for advice or more information by emailing hannah.littlewood@hotmail.co.uk

Could you be a Project Champion?

If the pilot is a success, we’ll need to find Champions in every region. Are you a teacher with significant experience of running a Café Sci? Would you like to share your experience and spread the Café Sci word to fellow teachers? Could you be the Champion in your area? It’s a great (if unusual!) career development opportunity and we’ll cover your travel expenses.
