Are genetically modified crops doing more harm than good?
Speaker: Peter Mark Opendun, Researcher, Food science and technology department, Makerere University
Peter’s question and answer approach made the café more participatory and interactive. The talk started with his observation that over one billion of the world’s population suffers starvation and that some people think that GMOs are the solution to end world hunger. He pointed out that scientists have not established the effect of GMOs to people’s health and the environment, although some cancer-related ailments are suspected.
