Welcome to Café Sci

Café Sci is a ground-breaking new way to bring science to secondary school students in an informal, discussion-based format which is anything but boring. We link schools with some of Britain’s most fascinating and engaging scientists, to stimulate free-thinking conversation about contemporary issues in science and technology, from 'The real science behind Dr Who' to 'Will men ever have babies?' There are now cafés in schools across the north of England and central Scotland and we are spreading further all the time. Do you want to help us grow?

    Who can you turn to?

  • Why build such large (and expensive) particle accelerators?

Professor Ray Mackintosh of the Open University was the second speaker in our series of science-based discussion cafes. He gave a fascinating and accessible talk to an audience of science and non-science students alike, and his enthusiastic approach left many inspired.
